Short answer: Strength Lab LDN at 407 Durnsford Rd, Wimbledon Park SW19 8EE offers specialist strength-based knee injury rehabilitation led by qualified S&C coaches. Available in-person, online, or in a hybrid format. The full programme is £140.

Why strength-based knee rehab works
Most knee problems – whether after surgery, after an injury, or developed gradually over time – come down to the same thing: the muscles around the knee aren’t strong enough to support the joint under the loads it’s being asked to handle.
Stretching, foam rolling, and rest don’t fix that. Structured strength training does.
The Strength Lab LDN Knee Injury Rehabilitation programme is built around the principle that the knee needs progressive, qualified loading to rebuild capacity. Sessions are run by S&C coaches, not physiotherapists – which means our role isn’t diagnosing or treating tissue. It’s rebuilding the strength, control, and movement capacity that gets you back to running, climbing stairs, lifting, or competing.
What knee conditions do we work with?
The knee rehab programme at Strength Lab LDN Wimbledon is designed for:
- Pre and post ACL surgery, including double ACL reconstructions and hamstring grafts
- Patella tendinopathy (often called “jumper’s knee”)
- Osgood-Schlatter disease in youth athletes
- Knee pain associated with aging or hormonal changes
- Knee osteoarthritis
- Old sports injuries that never fully resolved
- Running injuries including runner’s knee and ITB syndrome
- Post-surgical rehabilitation – meniscus, cartilage repair, knee replacement
You don’t need to have had surgery to benefit from the programme. Many clients come to us with chronic knee pain that’s never been formally diagnosed, and structured strength work clears it up.
What’s included in the £140 programme?
1. Initial S&C assessment
A full assessment of your movement, strength, history, and goals. We look at how your knee moves under load, where the weak points are, and what’s limiting you. This isn’t a five-minute warm-up – it shapes the entire programme.
2. One-month tailored programme
A bespoke training programme based on your assessment, designed to progressively load the knee back to capacity. The programme adapts as you progress and is reviewed each week.
3. Final consultation and assessment
A repeat of the original assessment at the end of the month to measure progress and plan the next phase – whether that’s continuing with knee rehab, transitioning into personal training, or moving to hybrid training to maintain your gains.
Total programme cost: £140.
In-person, online, or hybrid?
The knee rehab programme is available in three formats:
In-person at Wimbledon Park
Sessions at our Wimbledon Park studio – 407 Durnsford Rd, SW19 8EE. Best for clients who want hands-on coaching and access to the full range of equipment. A 10-minute walk from Wimbledon Park tube (District line) and Earlsfield National Rail. Metered parking is available directly outside.
Online
Live video sessions plus app-based programming. Best for clients who travel for work, have unpredictable schedules, or live further from the studio. All exercises adapt to whatever equipment you have access to – gym, home, or travel.
Hybrid
A mix of in-person sessions and online support. The best of both worlds – in-person assessment and key sessions, online programming for the rest of the time. Most clients land here.
Physio vs S&C – which do I need?
Both, depending on where you are in your recovery.
A physiotherapist manages the early medical stages: post-op care, swelling, range of motion, gait re-training, and clearance for loaded exercise. They are the right person for the first 0 to 6 weeks after surgery, or for diagnosis of a new injury.
A strength and conditioning coach takes over from there. S&C is a different discipline – focused on building strength, power, and movement capacity rather than treating tissue. Coaches at Strength Lab LDN are not physios. We don’t do manual therapy or diagnosis. We do rebuild knees that are ready to be loaded.
The best outcomes happen when both work together – physio for the first 6 to 12 weeks, then S&C from month 3 onwards, often with continued physio touchpoints. We’re happy to work alongside your physio and share programmes if helpful.
How long does knee rehab take?
It depends on the injury or surgery:
- ACL reconstruction: 9 to 12 months before returning to sport. The Strength Lab LDN programme covers the strength stages from month 3 onwards.
- Patella tendinopathy: Significant improvement within 8 to 12 weeks of structured loading.
- Chronic knee pain or arthritis: Most clients feel meaningful change in 6 to 12 weeks.
- Post-meniscus repair: 4 to 6 months back to full activity, with strength work starting around week 6 to 8.
- Knee replacement: 6 to 12 months full recovery, with S&C playing a major role from month 3 onwards.
The one-month programme at Strength Lab LDN is designed as a starting point. Most clients continue with personal training, hybrid training, or further knee rehab blocks afterwards.
Who runs the knee rehab programme?
The programme is led by qualified S&C practitioners at Strength Lab LDN. Every coach has experience in elite sporting environments and the private sector, with backgrounds across football, rugby, hockey, athletics, and rehabilitation settings.
Strength Lab LDN was founded in 2019 by Samuel Davis, Head S&C Coach. Knee rehab is one of the most popular service formats across both gyms – we work with clients pre and post ACL surgery, including complex double ACL reconstructions.
