Knee Rehab in Battersea
Short answer: Strength Lab LDN at 189 Battersea Park Rd, SW11 4LB offers specialist strength-based knee injury rehabilitation led by qualified S&C coaches. Available in-person, online, or hybrid format. The full programme is £140.
Why strength-based knee rehab works
Most knee problems – whether after surgery, after an injury, or developed gradually – come down to the same thing: the muscles around the knee aren’t strong enough to support the joint under the load it’s being asked to handle.
Stretching, foam rolling, and rest don’t fix that. Structured strength training does.
The Strength Lab LDN Knee Injury Rehabilitation programme is built on the principle that the knee needs progressive, qualified loading to rebuild capacity. Sessions are run by S&C coaches, not physiotherapists – our role isn’t diagnosing or treating tissue. It’s rebuilding strength, control, and movement capacity.
What knee conditions we work with
The knee rehab programme at Strength Lab LDN Battersea covers:
- Pre and post ACL surgery, including double ACL reconstructions and hamstring grafts
- Patella tendinopathy (jumper’s knee)
- Osgood-Schlatter disease in youth athletes
- Knee pain associated with aging or hormonal changes
- Knee osteoarthritis
- Old sports injuries that never fully resolved
- Running injuries including runner’s knee and ITB syndrome
- Post-surgical rehabilitation – meniscus, cartilage repair, knee replacement
You don’t need surgery to benefit. Many clients come to us with chronic knee pain that’s never been formally diagnosed, and structured strength work clears it up.
What’s included in the £140 programme
1. Initial S&C assessment
Full assessment of your movement, strength, history, and goals. We look at how the knee moves under load, where the weak points are, and what’s limiting you.
2. One-month tailored programme
A bespoke training programme based on your assessment, designed to progressively load the knee back to capacity. Adapted weekly based on response.
3. Final consultation and assessment
Repeat assessment at the end of the month to measure progress and plan the next phase – continuing rehab, moving to personal training, or transitioning to hybrid training.
In-person, online, or hybrid?
The knee rehab programme is available in three formats:
In-person at Battersea
Sessions at our Battersea Park studio – 189 Battersea Park Rd, SW11 4LB. 3-min walk from Queenstown Road, 4-min from Battersea Park. Best for full hands-on coaching.
Online
Live video sessions plus app-based programming. Best for clients who travel for work or live further from the studio.
Hybrid
Mix of in-person and online sessions. Best of both – in-person assessment and key sessions, online for the rest.
Physio vs S&C – which do I need?
Both, depending on where you are in recovery.
A physiotherapist manages the early medical stages – post-op care, swelling, range of motion, gait re-training, clearance for loaded exercise. They’re the right person for the first 0 to 6 weeks after surgery or for diagnosis of a new injury.
A strength and conditioning coach takes over from there. S&C is a different discipline, focused on building strength, power, and movement capacity rather than treating tissue. Strength Lab LDN coaches are not physios.
The best outcomes happen when both work together. We’re happy to work alongside your physio and coordinate programmes.
How long does knee rehab take?
Recovery timelines depend on the injury or surgery:
- ACL reconstruction: 9 to 12 months to full return to sport. We typically cover months 3-12.
- Patella tendinopathy: Significant improvement within 8 to 12 weeks of structured loading.
- Chronic knee pain or arthritis: Most clients feel meaningful change in 6 to 12 weeks.
- Post-meniscus repair: 4 to 6 months back to full activity.
- Knee replacement: 6 to 12 months full recovery.
The one-month programme is a starting point. Most clients continue with PT, hybrid training, or further rehab blocks afterwards.
