What S&C coaching looks like in Battersea

A strength and conditioning coach plans your training in blocks, tests you at the start and adjusts the plan as the numbers move. The methods come from elite sport, and our clients range from city professionals and parents to runners, team sport players and people getting back to full strength after an injury.

Battersea is the bigger of our two studios. Wimbledon Park is built around 1-to-1 coaching (more on that in strength and conditioning coach in Wimbledon). Battersea adds coached small group strength sessions, sleds and an outdoor astro track, so you can choose how much 1-to-1 time you need.

Three ways to train with an S&C coach here

1-to-1 coaching

Just you and your coach for 45 or 60 minutes, with a programme written around your goals, history and any old injuries. See 1-to-1 personal training.

Small group strength

The 6 Week Series: Session A on Mondays and Tuesdays, Session B on Wednesdays and Thursdays, Session C on Fridays and Saturdays, plus Sunday Floor Pilates. Groups are capped at 9.

Hybrid

Regular sessions with your coach, with the rest of your week programmed in our app, including a video for every exercise. See hybrid training.

1-to-1 or small group: how to choose

  • Pick 1-to-1 if you have a specific goal or sport, an injury history, or you want every set planned and watched.
  • Pick small group if you want structured strength training two or three times a week, like training with others and are happy following a shared programme that your coach scales to you.
  • Mix them if you want both. Plenty of people start 1-to-1 to learn the main lifts, then move into the group sessions.

We compare the two formats in more detail in 1-to-1 personal training vs group classes.

How the coaching works

Every new 1-to-1 client starts with an assessment. Your coach goes through your training history, injuries and goals, watches how you move and records starting numbers for your main lifts. Training then runs in blocks, with a retest at the end of each one.

In the small group sessions, each six-week block centres on a main lift such as the squat, deadlift or bench press. The coach sets your load, corrects your technique and moves you on as you get stronger. You can join at any point in the block.

Coming back from an injury

Our coaches are S&C coaches, not physios. We work with people once a physio or doctor has cleared them to train, and build the strength back up from there. Knees are the most common reason, so we run a dedicated knee injury rehabilitation programme: £140 for an assessment, a one-month programme and a final review.

FAQs

Where can I find a strength and conditioning coach in Battersea?

Strength Lab LDN has a private S&C studio at 189 Battersea Park Rd, SW11 4LB, a 3-minute walk from Queenstown Road and 4 minutes from Battersea Park station. You can train 1-to-1 or in coached small groups of up to 9.

How much does an S&C coach cost in Battersea?

At Strength Lab LDN, 1-to-1 sessions are £80, £78 or £74 each in packs of 5, 10 or 20, including VAT. Small group strength sessions start with an intro class for £20, or 3 intro classes for £45.

Are the small group strength classes suitable for beginners?

Yes. You don’t need barbell experience. The coach teaches the main lifts, sets loads to your level and adapts exercises where needed, and you can join at any point in the six-week block.

Can I train with an S&C coach after an injury?

Yes, once a physio or doctor has cleared you to train. Our coaches are not physios, so they pick up from there and rebuild your strength. If you’re unsure whether you’re ready, check with your GP or physio first.
